This is for creating a new server profile. You need at least one profile for your main newsserver. First you will be asked for the server name (that's the name or IP-address of the newsserver you would like to use). Second you have to provide a nickname (alias) for that server. The nickname is the one that later appears in the Server menu and in your window titles.

If you do the above, the Xnews Setup dialogue comes up with your given details prefilled. Add all necessary values. "Basic" Tab: Depending on your ISP and connection you'll have to enter a username and password for the server. "Custom" Tab: If this is not the very first time you start Xnews your personal details like name, e-Mail (will only be used when sending e-Mail from Xnews) and Public e-Mail (will be used in your FROM-header on usenet) are taken from the "Identities"-Setup-Tab.

Here you'll find the nickname you have set up when creating a new server profile. Click to connect to that specific server.
Hold the Shift-key when choosing to enter the Setup for that server-profile.
